The Speech Language Learning Center is a private speech therapy practice. We screen, evaluate, and provide treatment for children and adults. Our goal is to help our patient achieve their full potential!
Speech Screenings and Evaluations
Speech Screenings
Early identification is the key to success with speech and language problems.
We offer speech screenings, which are 15 to 30 minute check-ups. This is gives our patients peace of mind and may lead to further evaluations if necessary. The fee for this service is $30, and is applicable toward a full evaluation.
Full Speech Language Evaluations
The first step is to complete a case history form. From there a speech pathologist will conduct an hour-long evaluation. Your evaluation will be scored and you come in for a second appointment to discuss the results and follow up care.
If you have any concerns about you or your child's speech, please don't delay and hope the condition will improve. Call us at (810) 733-3911 or contact the Michigan Speech Language Learning Center online to make an appointment and know for sure.

Fast ForWord - The Importance of Brain Fitness in Education
Enroll your K-12 student in this program proven to increase reading and learning skills. The Speech Language Learning Center is certified to provide this innovative program.
Just as exercise of the body promotes physical fitness, so does the proper exercise of the mind promote brain fitness. The latest neuroscience confirms that the brain can reinvent and reconfigure itself throughout life and not just during the formative years. With frequent, proven brain fitness exercises every learner can become a successful lifelong learner.
What is Brain Fitness?
Just as exercise promotes physical fitness, exercising our brain improves brain fitness in four critical areas:
- Memory
- Attention
- Processing
- Sequencing
Exercises that work these cognitive "muscles" provide valuable benefits to learners:
- Accelerated acquisition of knowledge
- Better ability to utilize and organize information to which they have already been exposed
- Readiness to embark upon an improved trajectory of lifelong learning
Together, brain fitness activities and good instructional practices create an optimal learning environment where students can reach their full potential.
Brain Fitness & Optimal Learning
In our national effort to accelerate learning for all students, conversations have focused primarily upon two points:
- Curriculum standards
- Strategies for individualizing instruction to give learners optimal and repeated exposure to content they haven’t mastered
While these objectives are critically important, they do not directly address the needs of many struggling students:
- Learners who have difficulty paying attention to instruction
- Learners who have difficulty remembering what they are taught
They also do not address the cognitive challenge faced by nearly every learner from English language learners to learners at grade level and above:
- The inability to process information in one or more subject areas as quickly as it is being presented.
- The loss of confidence that follows these difficulties can negatively impact motivation and harm overall academic performance.
Scientific Learning – A Pioneer in Brain Fitness and Education
Scientific Learning strengthens brain processing and builds academic skills for all learners in grades pre-K to post-secondary. Scientific Learning’s family of products has positively impacted the lives of over 2 million learners worldwide. The flagship Fast ForWord® reading intervention programs can help learners achieve a 1-2 year reading gain in as little time as 8 to 12 weeks.

Interactive Metronome
This computer-based program is geared towards children with ADHD, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, and Learning Disabilities. Adult patients with Parkinson's Disease, Stroke, and Brain Injury can also benefit.
The Interactive Metronome (IM) program provides a structured, goal-oriented process that challenges the patient to synchronize a range of hand and foot exercises to a precise computer-generated reference tone heard through headphones. The patient attempts to match the rhythmic beat with repetitive motor actions.
A patented audio or audio and visual guidance system provides immediate feedback measured in milliseconds, and a score is provided. Today, Speech Language Pathologists are enhancing traditional therapy approaches with Interactive Metronome and achieving measurably improved outcomes. Interactive Metronome has been shown to improve:
- Attention & Concentration
- Motor Planning & Sequencing
- Language Processing
- Behavior (Aggression & Impulsivity)
- Balance and Gait
- Endurance Strength
- Motor Skills
- Coordination
